President Trump and Republicans were handed a major victory on Tuesday as Dan Bishop and Greg Murphy won two seperate special elections that were held in North Carolina for highly contested Congressional seats.
Trump’s rally in North Carolina on Monday night likely gave Bishop, who was down by 17 points just weeks ago, the edge he needed to narrowly walk away with the big win. While Murphy decisively won.
According to Fox News, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) Chairwoman Cheri Bustos admitted in her statement to the press that the “last minute Trump rally” likely helped propel Bishop past his 9th district Democrat challenger Dan McCready, who she said “fell an inch short” on Tuesday.
The President along with his campaign press secretary and fellow GOP colleagues reacted as news broke on the two key victories.
President Trump said in a tweet, “Dan Bishop was down 17 points 3 weeks ago. He then asked me for help, we changed his strategy together, and he ran a great race. Big Rally last night. Now it looks like he is going to win. @CNN & @MSNBC are moving their big studio equipment and talent out. Stay tuned!”
He followed up by declaring, “BIG NIGHT FOR THE REPUBLICAN PARTY. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!”

In ending, here are some other popular reactions to Republicans sweeping North Carolina’s special election:
One has to acknowledge that @realDonaldTrump has the guts to put political capital on the line to help candidates like Dan Bishop in NC and it paid off. He fights for his team! Thanks, @POTUS as this kind of fight will be the winning formula in 2020.
