While speaking at Latinx IncluXion Luncheon on Monday, Jill Biden alleged that the Hispanic community is “as unique as the breakfast tacos here in San Antonio”.

“Raul helped build this organization with the understanding that the diversity of this community — as distinct as the bodegas of the Bronx, as beautiful as the blossoms of Miami, and as unique as the breakfast tacos here in San Antonio — is your strength,” she said, referring to UnidosUS founder Raul Yzaguirre.

Jill Biden’s statement, in part:

Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) reacted to Jill Biden’s remarks by changing his profile picture on Twitter to a taco:

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) also responded to Jill Biden’s statement, writing on Twitter, “Personally, I’m a chorizo, egg & cheese.”

The National Association of Hispanic Journalists issued a statement to Jill Biden hours after her speech:

Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) said in a tweet, “If Jill Biden is going to compare Hispanic Americans to breakfast Taco’s then she could at least use more inclusive language: It’s ‘TacX,’ Jill.”

Danilelle Alvarez posted a comparison of what appeared to be political pandering from the Bidens:
