During his opening remarks at the NRA convention in Houston, Texas on Friday, 45th President Donald J. Trump held a moment of silence by paying his respects to the victims of the school shooting, which took place Tuesday at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas.
The shooting resulted in the death of 19 children and two teachers.

Trump also called the shooter an “out-of-control lunatic” who was “pure evil.”
“The monster who committed this crime is pure evil, pure cruelty, pure hatred. Absolute pure hatred. And while those he slaughtered are now with God in Heaven, he will be eternally damned to burn in the fires of hell,” he said.

The 45th President also said of the families: “We ask God to ease their suffering and to heal their pain, and together we grieve side by side as one great American family.
