MSNBC host Ari Melber weighed in on Monday to the news of Elon Musk buying Twitter for $44 billion and suggested that suggested elections could be swayed through Twitter’s targeting of political parties or candidates.
Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) reacted to Melber’s remarks, arguing it is brazen for the far-left cable network host “to say this with a straight face”.
Ari Melber expressed concern that one person can own “all of Twitter,” saying, “If you own all of Twitter or Facebook or what have you, you don’t have to explain yourself.”
“You don’t even have to be transparent. You could secretly ban one party’s candidate, or all of its candidates, all of its nominees, or you could just secretly turn down the reach of their stuff and turn up the reach of something else and the rest of us might not even find out about it until after the election,” he said.
“Elon Musk says this is all to help people because he is just a free speech, philosophically clear open minded helper, a world helper, if you will. Is that true? Should you take him at his word?” Melber asked.
Following what appeared to be panic from the left-wing MSNBC host, Senator Ted Cruz wrote on Twitter, “The utter shamelessness for MSNBC to say this with a straight face in light of what has actually occurred on Twitter over the past few years.” Video Below
