Steve Bannon, former White House chief strategist for 45th President Donald Trump, was indicted last week, according to Joe Biden’s Justice Department, for two counts of contempt of Congress after he defied a congressional subpoena from the House committee investigating the January 6 breach of the U.S. Capitol. The Justice Department said Bannon was indicted on one count for refusing to appear for a deposition and the other for refusing to provide documents in response to the committee’s subpoena. It is not immediately clear when he is due in court, as previously reported by The Freedom Times.

Bannon, on Wednesday, pleaded not guilty to contempt charges over the subpoena issued by the congressional panel.

Bannon reported to the FBI on Monday and and said communications with 45th President Donald Trump are covered by “executive privilege: and that the investigation is politically motivated.

He was due to be arraigned in court on Thursday, but agreed to waive his right to a formal reading of the indictment, according to court documents filed on Wednesday. That means a scheduled virtual hearing would be little more than a check-in with the judge to discuss calendars, Daily Mail reported.

Bannon appeared before a D.C. court on Monday and had urged supporters outside of the FBI Office in D.C. to focus on “signal, not noise”. He later vowed to deliver Joe Biden, Merrick Garland, and Nancy Pelosi the “misdemeanor from hell” after emerging from court, as previously reported by this publication.

He faces up to one year in prison along with a fine of up to $100,000 if found guilty. Continued Below

On Tuesday Bannon was back on air and promised that he would fight the charges.

“They don’t know how to handle when MAGA punches back, and MAGA is punching back,” he told listeners to the War Room. Continued Below

“Okay, we’re not going to just sit here and take it any more … the months and months and months and months and months of just the rhetoric and trying to weaponize the law and weaponize DOJ, “he said.

“We’re not going to take it, okay. We’re going on offense,” Mr. Bannon vowed.
