“I think it’s fantastic,” Lara Trump said when asked what she thinks about the idea of an election commission to audit the results of the presidential election.
A group of senators, led by Ted Cruz (R-TX) are calling for Congress to appoint a commission to conduct a 10-day emergency audit of the election returns in states where the results are disputed. They cite as precedent the 1877 race between Samuel Tilden and Rutherford Hayes in which there were allegations of fraud in multiple states.
“In 1877, Congress did not ignore those allegations, nor did the media simply dismiss those raising them as radicals trying to undermine democracy,” the lawmakers said in the statement. “Instead, Congress appointed an Electoral Commission — consisting of five Senators, five House Members, and five Supreme Court Justices — to consider and resolve the disputed returns.”
In response to the prospect of an emergency audit, Lara Trump told Judge Jeanine Pirro, “If there’s ever a year that we need to get this right — and any election we need to get this right — it’s now.”
“There was unprecedented fraud. We have thousands of signed affidavits of people that experienced fraud, saw it happen,” she added. “I think if we don’t get this one right, Judge, the American people lose trust in our system. And once that happens, our Constitutional Republic starts to slip away, and it’s a really scary prospect to a lot of people.”
Lara continued: “Look, 74 million people came out and voted for President Donald Trump — broke records with that number — and they want to know that their vote counted. I think every American — whether you voted for Donald Trump or not — should want to get this one right.”
“We have to know that our elections are only counting legal votes, and we should have a commission to review some of this because, look, the reality is we have had to try to expose so much fraud in such a short amount of time. Let’s dig in to it. Let’s get it right. And let’s get the proper result of this election,” she declared. Video Below
