A group of Republican senators, led by Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX), have officially announced that they will object to the January 6th certification of the presidential election results on Wednesday unless there is an emergency 10-day audit of the results by an electoral commission, as previously reported by The Freedom Times.

The Republican Senators joining Ted Cruz are are Ron Johnson (WI), James Lankford (OK), Steve Daines (MT), John Kennedy (LA), Marsha Blackburn (TN) and Mike Braun (IN), as well as Sens.-elect Cynthia Lummis (WY) Roger Marshall (KS) Bill Hagerty (TN) and Tommy Tuberville (AL).

The senators are calling for Congress to appoint a commission to conduct a 10-day emergency audit of the election returns in states where the results are disputed. They cite as precedent the 1877 race between Samuel Tilden and Rutherford Hayes in which there were allegations of fraud in multiple states.

“In 1877, Congress did not ignore those allegations, nor did the media simply dismiss those raising them as radicals trying to undermine democracy,” the lawmakers said in the statement. “Instead, Congress appointed an Electoral Commission — consisting of five Senators, five House Members, and five Supreme Court Justices — to consider and resolve the disputed returns.”

“Congress should immediately appoint an Electoral Commission, with full investigatory and fact-finding authority, to conduct an emergency 10-day audit of the election returns in the disputed states,” the Senators said. “Once completed, individual states would evaluate the Commission’s findings and could convene a special legislative session to certify a change in their vote, if needed.

“We should follow that precedent. To wit, Congress should immediately appoint an Electoral Commission, with full investigatory and fact-finding authority, to conduct an emergency 10-day audit of the election returns in the disputed states. Once completed, individual states would evaluate the Commission’s findings and could convene a special legislative session to certify a change in their vote, if needed,” they added. Continued Below

If that doesn’t happen, the Republican senators intend to vote against certification.

“Accordingly, we intend to vote on Jan. 6 to reject the electors from disputed states as not ‘regularly given’ and ‘lawfully certified’ (the statutory requisite), unless and until that emergency 10-day audit is completed,” the GOP Senators said in their joint statement.

Upon seeing that the Republican Senators came forward announcing that they will object on January 6th, Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA), who sits on the House Intelligence Committee, put his irritation on full display, claiming that the GOP Senators are “enemies of democracy”. Continued Below

“Name & shame these enemies of democracy”, Swalwell tweeted, including the list of GOP Senators who plan to object on January 6th.

Following Rep. Swalwell’s tweet, users on Twitter immediately ratioed the California congressman with more comments blasting him, than people actually liking his post.

Twitter users pointed out that Swalwell was targeted by a Chinese national named Fang Fang — aka Christina Fang — an alleged operative for China’s Ministry of State Security, which is the country’s intelligence organization, according to a report by Axios released last month.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) ultimately received a briefing from the FBI in regards to Swalwell’s relationship with the alleged Chinese spy. Meanwhile, a source on Capitol Hill confirmed with The Federalist that Rep. Swalwell did, in fact, have a sexual relationship with Fang Fang, as previously reported by The Freedom Times.
