Former White House press secretary during the administration of former President Bill Clinton, Joe Lockhart, penned an op-ed last week urging presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden not to debate President Donald Trump prior to the upcoming November election.

In his op-ed on CNN, titled:Joe Biden could still lose this election”, Lockhart wrote, “Whatever you do, don’t debate Trump.”

“Trump has made more than 20,000 misleading or false statements according to the Washington Post. It’s a fool’s errand to enter the ring with someone who can’t follow the rules or the truth,” Joe Lockhart wrote in part.

“Biden will undoubtedly take heat from Republicans and the media for skipping the debates. But it’s worth the risk as trying to debate someone incapable of telling the truth is an impossible contest to win,” he added.

Upon seeing Lockhart’s remarks, conservative actor James Woods responded to the op-ed, suggesting that Joe Biden “wouldn’t be able to debate even if he weren’t hiding in his basement.”

“#JoeBiden wouldn’t be able to debate even if he weren’t hiding in his basement. He has dementia, which I don’t wish on anyone. It is unfair to American voters, however, that the Democrats’ unabashed election strategy is keeping this walking fossil on ice,” Woods tweeted on Monday. Continued Below

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) also responded to the op-ed on Sunday, writing: “Basement strategy, part 2″.

Meanwhile, former Secret Service agent and Fox News contributor, Dan Bongino, declared Sunday morning on Twitter that Joe Biden is suffering a rapid “cognitive decline”, and he said that he is “hearing from people” who are “close to the situation”.

Last month, a survey published by Rasmussen Reports showed that 38% of respondents think that Joe is suffering from some form of dementia, 20% of which are Democrats. Furthermore, only 54% of likely voters think that former Vice President Joe Biden is capable of debating President Donald J. Trump.

According to Rasmussen Reports: the latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 54% of Likely U.S. Voters think Biden is capable of debating the president. Thirty-six percent (36%) disagree and say he is not capable of such a debate. Another 11% are not sure.

But then 38% of all voters, including 20% of Democrats, believe Biden is suffering from some form of dementia. Sixty-one percent (61%) think it is important for him to address the dementia issue publicly.
