Mayor Lori Lightfoot fired back at Chicago’s President of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) John Catanzara Jr. after he called her a “complete failure”.

Catanzara Jr. made the comment about Mayor Lightfoot in a letter that he sent to President Trump, where he formally asked for “help from the federal government” in wake of the spike in gun violence and chaos in Chicago.

Catanzara wrote: “I am certain you are aware of the chaos currently affecting our city on a regular basis now. I am writing to formally ask you for help from the federal government. Mayor Lightfoot fired back when pressed by about Catanzara’s remarks on CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday, where she suggested the FOP President is “out of touch with reality.”

“We’re in the middle of contract negotiations with the FOP,” Lightfoot told Jake Tapper. “He knows that we’re gonna have a reckoning with them that imposes accountability measures that they adamantly resist, so he’s pandering to the crowd.”

“He is completely out of touch with reality,” she added. “He wants to hold on to a status quo that has failed everyone, including his members.”

“We’re not having that, so I expect to hear more nonsensical things from him,” Lightfoot concluded. Video Below
