Activist and former NFL San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick took to Twitter Saturday to condemn Independence Day as a “celebration of white supremacy”.
“Black ppl have been dehumanized, brutalized, criminalized + terrorized by America for centuries, & are expected to join your commemoration of ‘independence’, while you enslaved our ancestors,” Kaepernick wrote on Twitter, including a video.
“We reject your celebration of white supremacy & look forward to liberation for all,” Colin Kaepernick added.

The former NFL quarterback has a history of making divisive remarks. Last year, he made controversial statements that were likely directed towards President Trump’s decision to authorize the killing of Iranian military general Qassem Soleimani.
“There is nothing new about American terrorist attacks against Black and Brown people for the expansion of American imperialism,” Kaepernick wrote on Twitter following Soleimani’s death.
In a another tweet, Kaepernick said, “America has always sanctioned and besieged Black and Brown bodies both at home and abroad. America militarism is the weapon wielded by American imperialism, to enforce its policing and plundering of the non white world.”

In ending, we leave you with Kaepernick’s July 4th post from just 9 years ago. It’s amazing how fast he has changed his tune:
