President Donald Trump said Tuesday during a Fox News town hall that he wants the country’s economy re-opened by Easter amid questions over how long people should stay home and businesses should remain closed to slow the spread of coronavirus, as reported by Fox News.

Speaking from the Rose Garden alongside others on his coronavirus taskforce, Trump said he “would love to have the country opened up and just raring to go by Easter.” The holiday this year lands on April 12, Fox News reported.

President Trump took to Twitter on Wednesday to say: “The LameStream Media is the dominant force in trying to get me to keep our Country closed as long as possible in the hope that it will be detrimental to my election success. The real people want to get back to work ASAP. We will be stronger than ever before!”

During Wednesday’s Coronavirus Task Force White House briefing, CBS News White House correspondent, Paula Reid, asked the president: “You said earlier–linking the country to your election’s success in November… Is this Easter timeline based on your political interests? You tweeted– you said that the media wants the country remained closed to hurt your ongoing of getting reelected.”

President Trump responded: “The media would like to see me do poorly in the election.”

Reid interjected to argue: “Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have said that opening the country by Easter is not a good idea. What is that plan based on?” (Continued Below)

The president then fired back: “Just so you understand, ready? I think there are certain people that would like it not to open so quickly. I think there are certain people that would like it to do financially poorly because I think that would be very good as far as defeating me at the polls.”

Trump continued: “I don’t know if that’s so, but I do think it’s so that there a lot of people, in your profession that would like that to happen. I think it’s very clear that there are people in your profession who write fake news. You do, she does. There are people in your profession that write fake news.”

“They would love to see me for whatever reason because we’ve done one hell of a job– nobody’s done the job that we’ve done. And it’s lucky that you have this group here right now for this problem, you wouldn’t even have a country left,” he added. (Video Below)

President Trump also tweeted on Wednesday just before the briefing started: “I hear that Fake News CNN just reported that I am isolated in the White House, wondering out loud, ‘when will life return to normal?’ Does anybody really believe that?”

“There was no leak, they made it up – they are CORRUPT & FAKE NEWS I have been packed all day with meetings, I have no time for stupidity. We’re working around the clock to KEEP AMERICA SAFE!” he added.

It appeared during Wednesday’s briefing, Dr. Fauci himself, seemed irked with the “fake news” too.
