Tuesday on CNN, host Dana Bash offered a rare praise of President Donald Trump’s handling of COVID-19, saying he “is being the kind of leader that people need” in times of “crisis and uncertainty.”

Following her praise for the Commander in Chief, she faced a backlash from angry Twitter users, but Bash defended her remarks urging people to “take a breath and remember we are all in this together.”

“If you look at the big picture, this was remarkable from the President of the United States. This is nonpartisan. This is an important thing to note and to applaud from an American standpoint, from a human standpoint,” expressed Dana Bash.

“He is being the kind of leader that people need at least in tone today and yesterday, in tone, that people need and want, and yearn for– in times of crisis and uncertainty,” she added of the president’s remarks after Tuesday’s White House coronavirus task force press briefing.

The White House issued a series of new guidelines to slow the spread of the deadly Coronavirus Monday; saying the next 15 days are critical to stop the contagion and increase public safety.

The document urges all Americans who feel sick to remain in their homes and self-quarantine should a family member become ill. Those with underlying medical conditions and the elderly should stay home and avoid contact with others. (Continued Below)

After facing backlash for praising the Commander in Chief’s handing of the coronavirus, Dana Bash took to Twitter to say: “[T]his is a moment to be non-partisan, American and human – & the TONE the president set at today & yesterday’s PRESSERS were remarkably different and welcomed. That’s a fact. Let’s all take a breath and remember we are all in this together.”

In another Tweet, she wrote: “I said what he did at his presser today and yesterday is the kind of leadership in tone people need. It is important to say that, just as it was important to call him out on the way he largely and dangerously downplayed it until yesterday.” (Video Below)

On Saturday during a White House coronavirus task force press briefing, U.S. Surgeon General VADM Jerome M. Adams directly told the press: “no more finger-pointing or criticism” and called for “less stories looking at what happened in the past.”
