Senate Judiciary chairman, Lindsey Graham (R-SC) took to Twitter Wednesday where he laid out three “strategic objectives” to deal with Iran in simple and firm fashion.

This comes after Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani, the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ elite Quds Force, was killed in an airstrike at Baghdad International Airport, and after Iran launched ballistic missiles into Iraq targeting U.S. military bases.

The Commander in Chief addressed the nation Wednesday morning from the White House after Iran attacked US military bases in Iraq that resulted in “no casualties”, and announced that Iran “appears to be standing down”.

President Trump opened his speech by vowing that “As long as I am President of the United States, Iran will never be allowed to have a nuclear weapon.”

“The American people should be extremely grateful and happy. No Americans were harmed in last night’s attack by the Iranian regime,” the Commander in Chief said. “Iran appears to be standing down, which is a good thing for all parties concerned. No American or Iraqi lives were lost.”

Senator Lindsey Graham responded by laying out three “strategic objectives” and praising the Commander in Chief’s address. (Continued Below)

The South Carolina Senator, in a series tweets, wrote: “In my view, retaliation for the sake of retaliation is not necessary at this time. What is necessary is to lay out our strategic objectives regarding Iran in a simple and firm fashion.”

“Our objectives: ▶️ Iran must stop being the largest state sponsor of terrorism in the world. ▶️ Stop ballistic missile buildup which jeopardizes regional stability. ▶️ Negotiate a nuclear deal which provides nuclear power to Iran while dismantling a pathway to a bomb.”

Senator Graham also said: “The Maximum Pressure campaign with a credible military component is not only working, it’s the best way to achieve our strategic goals.” (Continued Below)

Then he praised the Commander in Chief after the White House address: “A homerun speech by President @realDonaldTrump about the challenges we face with Iran. It was measured and firm,” Sen. Graham tweeted.

The Senate Judiciary chairman also tweeted a message for Iran, the world, and America.

“To the Iranian people: President Trump laid out a pathway forward for peace and prosperity. I hope you take it,” he recommended.

“To the world: President Trump correctly identified the 40 year history of Iranian hostility and destabilization of the region. I hope you will help President Trump change the regime’s behavior so we can avoid a war,” Senator Graham urged.

“To the American people and Congress: What President Trump is seeking from Iran is to end 40 years of tyranny, to stop them from being a state sponsor of terrorism, and to abandon their nuclear weapons program once and for all. All Americans should support President Trump’s efforts to resolve the threat from Iran peacefully and fully understand the Maximum Pressure campaign must continue with a credible military component,” he concluded.
