Former Trump campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, issued a statement on Twitter Tuesday saying that he has decided to forgo a campaign for the US Senate in New Hamshire.

In a series of tweets, Lewandowski said he’s “certain” he would have won the GOP primary and defeated Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), but decided he will instead focus on his family and help President Trump get reelected.

“After much consideration, I have decided to forgo a campaign for the US Senate. While taking on a career politician from the Washington swamp is a tall order, I am certain I would have won. My priorities remain my family and ensuring that [President Donald Trump] is re-elected POTUS,” Corey Lewandowski tweeted.

“I am truly humbled by the outpouring of support I have received from people across New Hampshire and the country,” he wrote.

“NH needs a US Senator who will put our citizens first and not illegal aliens; one who will support pro-growth policies to keep the Trump economy strong,” Lewandowski continued.

“One who will support strict constitutionalist judges; and one who will fight for our values, not those of Washington, DC. Accordingly, I will be making an endorsement in the Republican Primary for US Senate in the near future to ensure we defeat Jeanne Shaheen in 2020,” the former Trump campaign manager added. A recent Emerson University survey found Lewandowski would have entered the GOP primary race with a double-digit lead over the other contenders, led by former state House Speaker Bill O’Brien and retired Gen. Donald Bolduc, as per the Hill.

Campaign manager for Trump’s 2020 presidential campaign, Brad Parscale, tweeted in response to Lewandowski forgoing the New Hampshire Senate bid: “Corey is a great American and would no doubt have become a great Senator from New Hampshire. We thank him for all his work in helping @realDonaldTrump get elected in 2016 & look forward to his continued support as we re-elect the President in 2020,” he wrote. (Continued Below)
