On Tuesday, House Democrats introduced two articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump alleging “abuse of power and obstruction of Congress” regarding his interactions with Ukraine, despite going to the court to obtain documents.

During Tuesday’s impeachment press conference, House Intelligence Committee Chairman, Adam Schiff (D-CA), suggested that Democrats must impeach President Trump in order to stop him from winning the presidency again in 2020.

“Now some would argue, why don’t you just wait? Why don’t you just wait until you get these witnesses the White House refuses to produce? Why don’t you just wait until you get the documents the White House refuses to turn over? And people should understand what that argument really means. It has taken us eight months to get a lower court ruling that Don McGhan has no absolute right to defy Congress. Eight months, for one court decision,” Schiff said angrily.

“If it takes us another eight months to get a second court or maybe a Supreme Court decision, people need to understand, that is not the end of the process. It comes back to us and we ask questions because he no longer has absolute immunity and then he claims something else,” Schiff continued. “That his answers are privileged and we have to go back to court for another eight or sixteen months.

“The argument why don’t you just wait, amounts to this: Why don’t we just let him cheat in one more election? Why not let him cheat one more time? Why not let him have foreign help just one more time? That is what that argument amounts to,” Schiff claimed.

However, according to the Mueller Report, the special counsel concluded that Russia did interfere with the election, but “did not find that the Trump campaign, or anyone associated with it, conspired or coordinated with the Russian government in these efforts, despite multiple efforts from Russian-affiliated individuals to assist the Trump campaign.” [Emphasized]. Meanwhile, the Department of Justice Inspector General, Michael Horowitz, released his long-awaited FISA report on Tuesday, which detailed how the FBI used an unverified dossier, created by British ex-spy Christopher Steele, to spy on the Trump campaign.

Steele’s reporting was commissioned by the opposition research firm Fusion GPS and funded by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) through law firm Perkins Coie, which was used to obtain warrants to justify the spying on the Trump campaign during the 2016 presidential election. The FISA court was not told that Clinton and the DNC paid for the dossier.

Republican lawmakers responded to the impeachment obsession, explaining how Democrats are more concerned about the clock and calendar than facts or fairness. (Video Below)

Adam Schiff’s official remarks:

Jonathan Turley testified last week and told Democrats: “If you make a high crime and misdemeanor out of going to the court, it is an abuse of power. It’s your abuse of power.”

Turley was right.

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) tweeted on Tuesday: “The people who are guilty of ‘Abuse of Power’ are the House Democrats who are pushing impeachment — not President @realDonaldTrump. The desire to impeach President Trump began the day he was sworn in as president. The fix was in.”

“This will be the first impeachment in American history driven by partisan politics and not an outside investigation. I fear House Democrats are turning impeachment into a tool to be used when you don’t like a president’s policies or style,” he continued. “What the Democrats seem intent on doing in this partisan impeachment threatens the office of the presidency itself. This is a sad and dangerous moment for the American political system.”

Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) tweeted, “BREAKING → Dems unveiled their baseless, partisan articles of impeachment. They have no case for impeachment. No bribery. No quid pro quo. No abuse of power. The facts aren’t on their side. This is a pathetic political mission to try to rig 2020 against @realDonaldTrump.”

Congressman Jim Jordan (R-OH) said, “The facts are on the President’s side. But Democrats are moving forward because they care more about stopping the President than helping the country.”

Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC) tweeted, “For months leading up to 2016, all we heard from Democrats was that questioning our elections was a ‘threat to democracy.’ Since then, all they have done is question our elections—without evidence and without basis—culminating in this charade impeachment. Breathtaking.”

Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY) wrote, “With this disgusting impeachment charade, House Democrats have proven themselves guilty of Abuse of Power and Obstruction of Congress.”

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) noted:

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) said, “The impeachment obsessed Democrats are determined to overturn the 2016 election & ignore the vote of the American People. The partisan Articles include abuse of power & obstruction of Congress. But it is Adam Schiff who has repeatedly abused his power & obstructed Congress.”
