Congressman Jim Banks (R-IN) issued a statement on Twitter directed at Democrats’ first two witnesses as their public testimonies were underway on Wednesday.

Ambassador Bill Taylor and State Department Official George Kent are testifying in front of the House as part of the public phase of the impeachment inquiry into President Trump’s phone call with Ukrainian President Zelensky.

In a thread of three tweets, Rep. Banks stated the following:

“Neither of @RepAdamSchiff’s witnesses testifying today listened to the original Ukraine call. Both admitted ZERO firsthand knowledge of a ‘quid-pro-quo.’

“They have as much inside knowledge about Ukraine call as you and me, since we can all read the transcript.

“Previous witness, Tim Morrison, testified that the transcript ‘accurately and completely reflects the substance of the call.’ See Below

“It’s all already out there! What we’re seeing is a made-for-TV circus meant to smear the president.

“Amb Sondland testified @realDonaldTrump said, ‘I want nothing. I want no Quid Pro Quo. I want Zelensky to do the right thing.’

“Kurt Volker testified there was ZERO ‘indication whatsoever for anything that resembles Quid Pro Quo’. Cut & dry!” See Below
