Democratic presidential candidate, Robert Frances “Beto” O’Rourke, reportedly told the press on Saturday that he would “implement a sweeping government buy-back policy for two types of assault rifles” if he were elected president in 2020.

While on his campaign trail in Charlottesville, Virginia, Beto was asked about the government taking weapons away from gun owners.

A reporter asked Beto in Charlottesville how he’d reassure people who are afraid the government would take their guns away. “I want to be really clear that that’s exactly what we are going to do,” O’Rouke said. “If you own an AK-47 or AR-15, you’ll have to sell them to the government.”

He later tweeted that quote on Twitter, adding: “We need to buy back every single assault weapon.”

Former NRA spokeswoman, Dana Loesch caught wind of O’Rouke’s comments, and she leveled him on Twitter in a series of tweets. (Continued Below)

Loesch asked in response to Beto’s claim of the government taking American’s guns away, “How does he propose going door to door to enforce confiscation? With guns?”

After Beto tweeted, “We need to buy back every single assault weapon,” Loesch set the record straight.

“They don’t exist, but for the sake of discussion, with what money? And when people refuse to give up their legally owned semi autos, which a lot will, will you use guns to take them by force? How does that work? Why did no reporter ask you this?” she asked. (Continued Below)
